AEB: Russian car, LCV sales fall 1.3% to 145,545 units in Aug

MOSCOW, Sep 6 (PRIME) -- Russia’s sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) fell 1.3% on the year to 145,545 vehicles in August, the Association of European Businesses (AEB) said on Friday.

In January–August, sales of cars and LCVs fell 2.3% to 1.114 million units.

“August showed no significant change in the overall market situation, as market sales continue to underperform vs. the robust level established in the prior year,” AEB said quoting Joerg Schreiber, chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee.

Sales of Russia’s largest carmaker AvtoVAZ rose 5% on the year to 30,012 cars in August and 3% to 233,684 units in January–August.
